League of Legends Wild Rift Patch Notes 2.2C breakdown

Introduction

Renekton has joined the Rift! Many of the meta champions see a nerf; this is the first time Braum and Kai’sa see a nerf. Twisted Fate, Jax and Pantheon see another round of buffs to balance out their kits.

Renekton, the butcher of the sands

Renekton

Renekton is a strong Baron laner with tons of early game damage. Jungle Renekton seems viable so far as well, because he can stack fury on monsters.

He is pretty strong in the current state, however, PC players might notice his sustain from Q is much lower than they would expect.

New Accessories

Goodies

These will be available in the shop and can be bought for Wild Cores

New Event

PRIDE

The Pride event will begin on May 24.

Masters of the Hunt

This is the event that will welcome the arrival of Rengar And Kha’zix. At the completion of the event you will be able to redeem either of the two.

Bad Blood Nemesis Duel

nemesis duel

This will trigger in a match if the following conditions are met.

  • Renekton and Nasus are in opposite teams
  • Both are at or above Level 13
  • Neither have dealt or taken champion damage within 53 seconds
  • Both are alive
  • Both are at least 16 units apart

nemesis duel

If either of the two dies withing three seconds of taking damage from his nemesis, the victor will get a special buff.

nemesis duel

If Nasus wins, his first ability will become an AOE. This is absolutely huge, considering this is the highest scaling ability in the game so far. Not only can he deal more damage with that but he can heal mroe and get more stacks in a shorter period of time because he can kill mulitple enemies with siphoning strike now and get multiple stacks.

nemesis duel

If Renekton wins, he stays at full Fury during ult, so essentially he can use all his enhanced abilities constantly!

This event won’t always trigger even when the conditions are met, but when it will, everyone will be notified of the same.

Buffs and Nerfs

Braum

Braum

Braum ruled the S tier in support for quite some time now. He was the go to choice for tank supports after Alistar got nerfed. Despite this, being a Braum main I take no pleasure from this nerf. They hit him where it hurts. His stun duration is significantly nerfed. Although no change in playstyle will ensue, and yes despite the nerfs, Braum will still be on the job.

Diana

Diana

With people mastering her, she is quickly making a name as one of the most devastating mid laners on the Rift. This nerf won’t do much at all to change her title as that.

Evelynn

evelynn

Evelyns main damage is with her ult engage combo. nerfing hate spikes only really nerfs her early game clear. Despite this, along with the ult nerf from last patch I think Evelyn will be in a weaker spot than before. Her early game ganks will come slightly later than usual (and in tune with other junglers) given her jungle clear has taken a sizable hit. Worry not, she will still one shot you and steal your dragons.

Fizz

Fizz

A buff to remind players the champion exists.

Jax

Jax

Mana issues on Jax is a very real thing. Mana buffs are cool but imagine if he had a real blue buff!

Kai’sa

Kai'sa

Finally Riot acknowledges that this champ is a bit on the broken side! Very high pick rate in both professional and solo queue, this nerf should come as a surprise to no one. Although this does not change much, it’s a step in the right direction.

Lee Sin

Lee Sin

This is like the third Lee Sin nerf. Good Lee Sin players can still make the champ work just fine. He will be just as oppresive in the right hands.

Lulu

Lulu

Ah, the forgotten enchantres. Maybe this will herald a comeback.

Lux

Lux

Lux support was absolutely obnoxious in lane. Nerf her ult damage by half as well and we have a balanced champ.

Pantheon

Pantheon

Just get this man his old shield!

Twisted Fate

Twisted Fate Stargazer

This is the second buff on Twisted Fate. The champ is in a good spot but is picked much lesser than expected. Maybe this will put him on the radar.

Passive Gold

PAssive Gold

This might make split pushing stronger, as they gain more gold from wave, while rest of the team rely on shared gold and passive gold. I think supports will feel this nerf the highest and should be compensated for the same with some gold generation support items. Don’t know how exactly this will affect the pacing of the game.

Rundown Videos

Shurkou’s thoughts on the newest patch. He was a Diamond in PC League as well, so his inputs on rengar and Kha’zix and how they will change the meta are valuable. Many thanks to Shurkou for letting us embed his video on here.

Got to say, his thumbnail game has improved!

Final Thoughts

Really excited to play more Renekton. Most of the balance changes were pretty minor and the meta won’t be affected to a major degree, but they are steps in the right direction. From what I have seen and played, Renekton seems balanced too for the most part but he might see minor buffs in the future. Again, this is just speculation, I don’t have nearly enough games on the champ to make a judgement.

Goodluck on the Rift, friend!
